Obituary for Jason Garrett Cantrell

Jason Garrett Cantrell, resident of Lamont, Oklahoma, 11months 13 days old, weighing 18 pounds and 7 ounces, with a length of 29 inches, having 8 teeth and blue eyes passed away Monday, August 6, 2018 in Oklahoma City with his loving parents at his side.

Jason's birthday party will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018 from 6-8pm at Blinn Park in Tonkawa. This is to be a joyous event celebrating Jason's remarkable life with a bouncy castle, splash pad and delicious sweets. Please wear Jason's t-shirt if you have one and refrain from bringing gifts.

Jason was born on August 24, 2017 to Zachary and Kaylynn (Jones) Cantrell in Oklahoma City. He was born with a rare condition which, in the early moments following his birth, experts didn't expect Jason to live beyond that day. However, they didn't realize the spark inside of Jason was too strong for them to be correct. Jason showed them he wasn't going to be limited by his condition, he was fierce in his determination to make a tremendous impact on this earth and the lives of people who would meet him. That day turned into a week, the weeks turned into months with Jason able to go home with his parents. Quickly, Jason's became known for his infectious smile, adorable chortles, and strong will. Such a small person had big love for everyone he met; especially his parents. Jason's greatest joy came from being bounced on his ball or in the arms of those holding him. As well, he loved his binky, smiling, laughing, and eating, especially soft orange foods like pumpkin, squash, sweet potatoes and the like. In addition, Jason adored being active, whether going on walks, swimming, or singing bluegrass and heavy metal music with his daddy. The fullness of Jason's life was due to his parents and others never losing HoPE.

Survivors include his parents Zachary and Kaylynn Cantrell of Lamont, maternal grandmother: Jan Jones of Springfield, MO, paternal grandparents: Garrett Cantrell of Lamont, Tracy Glasgow and husband Troy of Colombus, KS, maternal great grandmother Veta Davidson of Bartlesville, OK, aunts and uncles: Michelle Lanham and husband Jeff of Tonkawa, OK, Monty Ridgeway and wife Amber of Stillwater, OK, Jeff Cantrell and wife Wendy of Columbus, KS, cousins Clayton Lopeman, Carter Lopeman, Daxton Ridgeway, Jonah Cantrell, Jasmine Cantrell, Justise Cantrell, and Jeffrey Cantrell, as well as the families of HoPE.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Virgil Lopeman, maternal great grandmother Eileen Jones, and paternal great grandparents Vera and Cleon Cantrell.

In lieu of flowers, please remember Jason with a gift to the HoPE for Jason Cantrell c/o First National Bank, 101 W. Grand Ave., Tonkawa, OK 74653.
